Can't wait for a diesel wrangler. So far almost nothing's been good enough (for the price) to pull me from my '00 TJ...but a 200-ish HP, 400-ish lb-ft (at 700rpm), 20-something MPG diesel could do it.

HDC's got it right, there's a few years of diesel compatibility (ultra-low sulfur, etc) stuff to be worked out before it's ready for prime time.

Heard a big problem with diesels in jeeps is that the low-end torque snaps drivetrain parts like crazy.

Mad_Science

They need to wait a few more years before building a Wrangler with diesel options. Not before MB gets their 50 state legal diesel to market at the earliest. I can't see their sales forecasts showing it worthwhile until they can sell it in Cali.

Hey there G-wagon.... oh, no wait thats a jeep!

Love the spare tire cover, nice detail.
Hate the fuel filler, its a jeep not a TT or a ripped off TT (eclipse).
Love the DIESEL! but hate the tacky badge styled like an 80's electronic fuel injection or multi port fuel injection badge on a POS ford or GM.

This is what jeep should be producing IMO... something Charles Bronson could drive without risking loss of his hard guy mystique in spanish dubbed reruns. He's good in english... even better in spanish.

I say build it.... tho I put my money on a non-starter.

qfrog

While doing a double-take quick scroll down the page, the Jeep looked like a G-wagen for a split second. I love old Jeeps, and I love old G-wagens- true off-road heritage in both cases.

How cool would it be to get a modern turbo diesel in a Jeep? Decent mileage, loads of tourque, and in a Jeep you'd probably never feel the old diesel rattle anyway! (If they still rattle at all, that is.)

LA Stunt Double
